Isn’t this the time of year we should be full of joy and goodwill? It seems with each passing year its the feeling of festive frustration for small traders. We plan, organise, work extra hours making new stock, new lines, taking on the custom orders to try and keep the customer happy but at what cost?
I know people put themselves under extra pressure to have the ‘perfect Christmas’ and that adds to the extra stress levels but don’t take that out on us. There are certain ‘experts’ that will tell you it is down to us to ensure that your order arrives on time. Now that is fine but please be realistic. I do not offer next day delivery. My husband is not out driving up and down the country providing personal delivery services. If you order and expect your gift in two days may I respectfully request you order from that big online shop.

I don’t want to be feeling the festive frustration by way of a barrage of messages asking where a delivery is. I can’t imagine how many extra items are posted this time of year. Things will take longer. That is just common sense. Delays are outside my control.
If your item is not with you in two days don’t demand a refund or replacement. I can’t claim for a loss that quickly and in all honesty it will likely arrive in a few more days. I know from experience that a replacement won’t be return. Oh goodie. Result. I got two for the price of one. Well just take a moment. That freebie is at what cost to the little trader? It could be the item that sends us over the edge. To cease to trade. To not be able to pay our bills.
From the madness that is this time of year I wish you a Merry Christmas and above all timely deliveries.
