When I first started selling my knitting not in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up creating for TV production companies. Beacuse things like that did happen to me but I was lucky enough a few years ago to do just that. The thrill of that initial contact, after getting past thinking it was a joke. Then the critic part of you kicks in: self doubt takes over. Then you get to see your creation on TV. Nothing beats that feeling.

Repeat customers

This year I have been extra lucky. I have had three such jobs. The first job was for Eastenders who has been a repeat customer: How cool is that?

One of my contacts moved production companies and I got a call that literally had me dancing about my day job office. Could I knit for spitting image? Yes! Didn’t think twice at the start. I used to watch it all the time. Then the reality of what they required kicked in. As with all these jobs they are custom with very little turn around time.

I can honestly say this order pushed me to my limits but I am so pleased I said yes. I was over the moon with the results but then the critic appeared. The production assistant was over the moon and I was lucky enough to get a picture of them on set. Because of copyright I can not share but it is a prized possession and is in my crafting scrap book.

Thinking I had done really well I got the third call from one of the first people I had worked for. They had also moved companies but could I help them out. Working with her to provide exactly what the art director wanted was not without its problems. This did involve unpicking and extra shopping trips. Not sure when that will be on TV so will have to keep my eyes peeled for the next series of ‘Not going out’
